Being a hacker has its benefits, before I graduated from Fort Starch Military School, I managed to hack into Bridgeport Savings and Loans, and made a beautiful 2bd, 2ba home located outside of town near the ocean in Twinbrook, mine.
Once I finishe moving, I had to locate a job to cover the bills. Hacking is a skill but getting greedy can get one busted and sent to jail for quite a long time. After a while I noticed a job opening and couldn't resist. The listing stated I needed to talk to Dennis Racket and the position is for a Decoy. I wasn't sure what a decoy did but it was a foot in the right direction.
My favorite gift to myself would have to be a handsome Baby blue and white Jamboree, to which I have lovingly named, Sara. She and I have a bond stronger than glue. When she and I go anywhere I feel rebellious and it makes me feel like I could concur the world. Have been waiting for her for 18 years.
While I was brushing my teeth, I heard from my room the sound of my cell phone, "T.N.T." I wasn't sure who would be calling me. I had only been in town for a few hours and it was almost 10pm.
With a deep sigh, I finished brushing before I was ready, and with the minty freshness and a bit of toothpaste in the corners of my mouth I ran to the bedroom to answer the call.
"Josh Logan, please," The voice on the other end sounded like gravel, "My name is Dennis Racket, and I am calling about an application he turned in.
"This is Josh, how may I help you?" I replied, trying not to sound too excited.
Mr. Racket replied after clearing his throat, "Would you be willing to come in for an interview in one hour? I will be off work and have a moment to meet with you."
I didn't even have to think about the answer, "I will be there, Sir." I can't believe I am getting an interview so soon. I began to feel the need to jump out of my skin with excitement, I have the chance to make my criminal dreams come true.
Jumping on Sara, I drove across town to the Warehouse, I could feel the excitement building up in me, and vibrating in to Sara. We screamed down the streets, leaving everyone wondering what the blur was that just passed by. When I pulled up in front of the red brick building, all was dark inside, which had me wondering whether anyone was still there.
Slowly walking up to the gate, I looked around for the door to get in. I heard a voice over the PA system, "Place you hand on the pad and it will scan you and let you in." The woman sounded very official and to the point. I did as she instructed. With caution in my step I entered the building. The next thing I knew I was arrested.
When I asked the officer, "Why am I being taken in?"
“I cannot talk to you about why until we get to the station.” Officer Tex replied sternly.
The drive to the station felt like forever. The seats felt like concrete under my body and the smell was a cross between stale coffee and moldy donuts. Both of which made my gut ache.
Once we reached the station Officer Tex explained, "I followed you, you are wanted for a jewel hist. We got a tip earlier today that you were the one we were looking for. Now you are going to tell where the jewels are." Her tone, bone breaking, but one could tell she was a kind woman.
I had no idea what she was talking about but there was no point in telling her until I was in interrogation. Then I could explain that I had just moved into town.
The smell of coffee, sweat, and copy ink hit me like a ton of bricks and I began to vomit on the granite floor in the lobby, was it stress or the smell, who knew. Would I still get the job? I didn't know that either.
Once I had explained the misunderstanding the police had no choice but to release me.
"Aw, fresh air," I sighed. The smell of fresh air made me feel better, but the anger was still flowing through me. I couldn't believe the local police department is just a crooked as in Bridgeport.
Upon leaving the station my gut growled, I had noticed the sun was cresting the horizon.
"Those pigs had me in there for hours and didn't offer anything to eat or drink," I stated to Sara, and we headed for the End of the Line Boxcar Diner.
When we arrived, I noticed the place was empty, which was lucky for me. The mood I am in I don't want to have to hear a bunch of people and clanging dishes.
Looking at my Jamboree, "Sara I will be out soon and we can go home."
While I sat there eating my Tri-Tip Steak and Eggs, which took forever, a family walked in. I didn't pay much attention to them until the oldest daughter walked in. Her perfume, which smelled like fresh picked roses, hit me and I noticed a beautiful young woman with light brown hair and golden blond highlights. After they had ordered, my breakfast arrived; I asked the waiter, "Who is that family over there?"
"They are the Greenwood's," he replied dryly and walked away.
I couldn't help but stair at the young lady and I knew I had to meet her. I paid my bill and told the waiter that the food was good but the service was lousy.
I waited around outside for the family to come out so I could introduce myself. Then she walked out ahead of her family I decide it was now or never.
"Excuse me miss, I think you dropped something," I used this line with every girl I have ever met. No it doesn't always work, but she was younger than the girls I have met.
Her light blue eyes trapped mine and she replied, "I am sorry it isn't mine."
"Oh she is a smart one," I thought to myself.
I quickly cleared my throat, "Josh Logan, I am new in town."
"Hello, my name is Jade Greenwood." her voice sounded like silver bells at Christmas. I was so taken aback that I had to shake my head to clear my mind. We talked for what seemed like hours.
She told me about over hearing a cop and a teacher talking about steeling a very large diamond from the Greenwood home two nights ago. That was when I finally derived a conclusion, I had been framed.
"How much was this diamond worth?" I asked out of curiosity. "I was arrested for steeling some jewels just last night." I continued before she could answer.
"I am not sure, the diamond had been in our family for almost 25 years." She answered honestly, then continued, "I know it was insured because that is all my dad talks about."
We talked for almost an hour while Jade's little sister played on the swings.
"Jade it is time to go, Mom and Dad are going to get mad if we aren't home in time for pictures," Her little sister yelled as though she were the older sister.
With a deep sigh, Jade smiled and looked in the direction of the little girl and stated, "We are going now."
"That is my little sister Emerald, she thinks she is the boss when our parents aren't around," she explained looking at the ground.
Then she looked back at me and asked, "Can you remember my number if I give it to you?"
"I have a cell phone that I can put it in," was my smooth reply. We exchanged number s and she was on her way.
"Let's GO!" Emerald yelled and stomped off.
Before she ran after her sister I had just one question to ask her, "Will you be my girlfriend?"
Jade giggled and batted her very long, dark eye lashes and replied over her shoulder, "Call me and find out?"
She had cast a spell on me, my heart was all a twitter, and she was the only thing on my mind.
